On the Way of St Francis in Tuscany, a safe and immersive two-way route, you'll find clear and continuous signage. Follow the horizontal and vertical waymarkings, characterised by the classic red and white CAI signs combined with the yellow Tau and the name of the stage.

The upper variant of the Way of St Francis takes the pilgrim from Florence to the Sanctuary of La Verna, through some of Tuscany's most evocative landscapes. Along the stages of Pontassieve, Consuma, Stia, Camaldoli and Badia Prataglia, the route winds through forests, past hermitages, monasteries and villages rich in history, offering a walking experience immersed in nature and Franciscan spirituality. The endpoint on this stage is the Sanctuary of La Verna, a place of extraordinary religious and cultural value, closely linked to the life of St Francis.
