The Franciscan Protomartyrs' Way unwinds through the diocesan Terni-Narni-Amelia territory.

The way starts in Terni, crosses the towns in which Protomartyrs Berard, Adjutus, Accursius, Peter and Otho were born and ends in Terni at the Antonian Sanctuary of the Franciscan Protomartyrs in pursuit of the places where St. Francis carried out his preaching work and leaving an indelible mark.

To rediscover the taste of adventure in contact with nature, to discover the cultural heritage of Italy, to go on a quest and open up to the divine; there are many reasons that can drive a visitor to begin.  On the paths around Terni in Umbria, where beauty meets the sacred with discretion and humility, everyone is free to take up a backpack and set off on his or her way, as a pilgrim or a traveller.

The Way is divided into six legs; it can, however, be varied as the pilgrim wishes. The map accompanies the walker to Franciscan places, providing a description of the tourist route, distances, walking times and suggestions of the main places to visit. The journey by foot in Umbria is a leisurely way to get to know people, the monuments and the works of art that have been nourished by the same lifeblood of the Poor Man of Assisi and the Proto-martyrs saints.
