Stage 6.C: Terni - Arrone

We set off from Terni to enter the Nera River Valley and reach the Marmore Falls and the village of Arrone. This leg starts from the city of St Valentine and heads towards Assisi. The route will take us from the city of Terni, set in a flat valley basin, to the quiet but lush green valley of the River Nera, towards the spectacular Marmore Falls.

The first outgoing stretch crosses the outskirts of Terni. In less than six kilometres you will have left the noise of the city behind, to return once more to the peaceful countryside of Umbria. The route gradually climbs to the town of San Liberatore, along minor roads with little traffic. Then begins the pleasant descent towards the Marmore Falls, which can be seen from afar by the pilgrim. A visit to the Marmore Falls is recommended, together with the surrounding park, which has many footpaths. (You can check the water release times at www.marmorefalls.it). Pilgrims with a Way passport are entitled to a reduced-price ticket.

From the Falls, take the very scenic unpaved country road which winds up the hill, following the course of the River Nera.

This part of the stage - between narrow, rocky valleys and the River Nera to guide the pilgrim - is very easy and pleasant.
