Stage 9: Hermitage of St Peter in the Vineyard - Valfabbrica

From the area of the Chiaschio valley and the Hermitage of St Peter in the Vineyard, after a downhill stretch the trail climbs up again towards the Church of Caprignone, which is also a cool stopping point in the shade of the trees. You then resume the challenging ascent to Biscina Castle, which is the last place you can stock up on water. From here, it's almost all downhill to Valfabbrica. However, this last section is on asphalt and in full sun, so always remember your hat and a supply of water. Pay attention along the way, because you will come to a fork in the road. From here, you can decide whether to follow the signs towards the Franciscan parish church of Coccorano. This route is longer, but offers unexpected views of the Chiascio reservoir. Stopping off at the parish church is worth the effort. As an alternative to the previous turn-off, you can continue downhill along the dam (check the route on the short variant no. 9a).
