Overview
In 1563, Giovanni Antonio Rusconi devised a building project with the aim of providing support, albeit limited, for the prisons of the Ducal Palace. The three rooms located towards Riva degli Schiavoni housed the "Lords of the Night Courts", a jurisdiction in charge of ensuring respect for the customs of the citizens, especially during the night hours. In 1589, Antonio da Ponte resumed the work, which was ultimately completed by Antonio and Tomaso Contin in 1614.
