A stroll through ancient Rome: the Colosseum and the Forums

The vast archaelogical area of Rome, even today the object of digs and restoration, includes an uninterrupted series of basilicas, arches, temples and 'domus' or residences. The Colosseum or Anfiteatro Flavio is the best known monument in the world. It could hold up to 50,000 spectators and was inaugurated in the year 80 AD. The wide street that leads to Piazza Venezia and to the Vittoriano links two important archaeological areas: the Imperial Forums and the Roman Forum.
