Visitare il Palazzo Leopardi, ubicata nella Piazza "Sabato del villaggio" di Recanati, risalente al Settecento, dimora natale del poeta e ancora oggi abitata dai suoi discendenti, offre l’opportunità di ammirare una collezione di oggetti e manoscritti dello scrittore, per conoscere più da vicino la sua vita e la sua formazione.L’edificio attuale non è particolarmente grandioso ma ha linee semplici e signorili, grazie all’ultimo restauro effettuato nel Settecento dall’architetto Carlo Orazio Leopardi, prozio del poeta. Di fronte all’edificio si trovano le scuderie, che un tempo ospitavano alcune famiglie di domestici, tra cui quella di Teresa Fattorini, poi celebrata come Silvia nei versi di Giacomo. Al primo piano, sopra le vecchie cantine, si trova la famosa biblioteca che contiene più di 20.000 volumi, raccolta e organizzata da Monaldo Leopardi, padre di Giacomo Il resto dell’edificio è abitato dalla famiglia. Per accedervi, si percorre un ampio scalone settecentesco, opera dell’architetto Carlo Orazio Leopardi.
