Castelnuovo Berardenga

Overview

Orange Flag of the Italian Touring Club

Castelnuovo Berardenga, which already betrays its name as a fortified village, is located in the heart of the Sienese Chianti. From the top of a hill, it dominates the valleys of the Ombrone and the Malena stream, evocative landscapes that are also celebrated in a museum.

Medieval centre, the village is surrounded by hills rich in vineyards. Among the typical and artisanal products, we point out the Chianti Classico DOCG wine, the Vin Santo del Chianti Classico Doc, the Val d'Arbia Doc and the Chianti Classico DOP oil, the cured meats of wild boar, salami, sausage and fillet in salt, the cheeses and the processing of wrought iron.

A few km from the village, you will find the hamlet of Monteaperti, where the famous battle between Sienese and Florentines was fought in 1260.
