Ivrea, the Navigli

Here we are in the heart of the Canavese, the geographical area north-east of Turin. Ivrea is famous for the historical Carnival and the folkloristic Orange Battle. This area of the town, known as the Naviglio di Ivrea, or canal of Ivrea, was constructed to carry water to the rice paddies around Vercelli. Continuing along Corso Cavour we reach the historical town centre, on the banks of the River Dora Baltea.
