From the beginning of the 13th century until the first decades of the 20th century, this architectural complex was extended and enriched with buildings and components. These are stretches of water, open spaces, structures and architecture, all of which have significant historical, environmental and documentary value. The components are strongly linked to the Venetian building tradition and constitute an organic and unified whole that should be considered as such. Among the most significant are the Tana Corderie, the Gaggiandre, the Artillery Workshops, the Squadratorians' building, the Bucintoro Shelter, the portals of the Artillery and the Armoury Rooms, the Docks and the monumental entrance to the Arsenal Camp.
