Tra le testimonianze archeologiche romane ben conservate, il Criptoportico forense di Aosta è una struttura architettonica dalle grandi capacità evocative. Situato in parte interrata e dalla forma di un quadrato abbastanza regolare, l’edificio ha un doppio corridoio sostenuto da massicci pilastri in blocchi di tufo, rivestito di una liscia intonacatura e illuminato da una serie di finestre a bocca di lupo. In passato, circondava l’area sacra del foro di Augusta Prætoria, in cui erano presenti due templi gemelli, i cui resti possono essere visualizzati dal giardino.
