Funivia Colle Eletto

Overview

The easiest and quickest way to admire Gubbio from the top of Mount Ingino

Gubbio, a few kilometres from Perugia, lies at the foot of Mount Ingino. The medieval village is dominated from above by the ancient Basilica of Sant’Ubaldo, housing the remains of the city’s patron saint. For centuries the small shrine could only be reached on foot along a long uphill path from the town centre, but since 1960 you can enjoy a unique view from above in just a few minutes thanks to the Colle Eletto cable car, built for the eighth centenary of the saint’s death.

The Colle Eletto cable car is in operation all year, but its busiest period is Christmas, when the world’s largest Christmas tree, consisting of over 900 lights and dominated by a large shining star, is set up along the side of Mount Ingino.

You can access the Colle Eletto cable car from the centre of Gubbio. The journey to the Basilica of Sant’Ubaldo takes just six minutes, and the views when you arrive will leave you breathless.
