The Grazzanello estate, which dates back to the 15th century, is located about six kilometres south of Lodi, and two kilometres from the Adda Sud Natural Park, in the town of Mairago. The surroundings are characterised by cultivated fields, rows of trees, hedges, ditches and dirt roads. The property covers an area of 60 hectares, divided into meadows, cereals, legumes, fodder crops and tall trees. Hunting is forbidden throughout the farm land. The farmhouse complex is composed of buildings organised and arranged in a perimeter manner, creating a typical enclosed Lodigiano courtyard. In 1993, alongside the agricultural activity, an agritourism-educational activity oriented towards the study of the environment also began. In 1981, work began to renovate the farmstead, maintaining the original types of construction, with the aim of opening up the old watermill, the stable housing a museum of agricultural tools, the barns, cottages and other original buildings to the public. At the same time, work was undertaken to restructure the agricultural landscape, creating a diverse and balanced environment.
