The home of the cheese focaccia

Located in a small inlet of the Golfo del Paradiso, between the towns of Sori and Camogli, Recco is considered the gateway to the Riviera di Levante and Tigullio. A popular tourist resort in Liguria, famous for its cheese focaccia, it is just a 30-minute drive from Portofino and boasts a picturesque historic centre.

One of the best-known buildings is the mid-18th century Sanctuary of the Madonna del Suffragio, with its high bell tower making the town recognisable from afar. Another noteworthy religious building is the Church of Nostra Signora delle Grazie in the hamlet of Megli, where a thorn from Christ's crown is believed to be kept. Villa Dufour, in the hamlet of Mulinetti, is definitely worth a visit. Erected in 1894 and now patronised by FAI, it has a varied architectural style, ranging from Neo-Mannerism to Neo-Baroque. The garden overlooks the sea, while upstream it is terraced.

In the town centre there are two well-equipped beaches and at their ends two free pebble beaches. The beach most suitable for children is the one furthest from the station, near the park: here the seabed is shallow and there is a play area. If you want to explore the coastline, we recommend Camogli and Paraggi bay, a half-hour drive away, while the bay of San Fruttuoso can be reached by boat.
