Piazza di Spagna

Overview

Piazza di Spagna is one of the most evocative places in the city, celebrated in numerous works of art and cult movies such as "Roman Holiday"

The church of the Holy Trinity of the Mountains, located at the top of the monumental staircase of the same name (more commonly known as the Spanish Steps) and the Barcaccia Fountain, by Pietro and Gian Lorenzo Bernini, are the architectural elements that characterize the square, providing a splendid backdrop for fashion shows, floral decorations and social events.

The square, which takes its name from the palace of the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See, is located in a strategic place perfect for visiting the historic center and the elegant streets nearby. From the Fountain of the Barcaccia, going up the steps and to the left you reach the Accademia di Francia and Villa Borghese, and to the right, the Teatro Sistina. Via Condotti, Via del Babuino, and Via Frattina open up nearby, as well as many other major streets for luxury shopping.

Fun fact: fashion lovers will find the largest Valentino flagship store in the world right on the square, while in the adjacent Piazza Mignanelli, the sixteenth-century Palazzo Mignanelli houses the creative headquarters of the Maison.
