Mausoleum of the Fosse Ardeatine

At the site where the massacre of 335 people was carried out on 24 March 1944, in response to the Via Rasella bombing, there is a mausoleum that holds artefacts, newspaper articles, documents, objects and photographs commemorating the German occupation of Rome (1943-1944). The museum also exhibits SS helmets, hats, machine guns and pistols, as well as drawings by architect Giuseppe Perugini for the shrine (1944-1951).
