Umbria, November 1 to December 9, 2012 - In Italy’s heart, along the paths of Extra-Virgin Olive Oil DOP

Ten different towns and villages in Umbria are involved in the 14th edition of Frantoi Aperti or “Open Olive-Presses,” the event that will offer 6 charming weekends in discovery of one special product: extra-virgin olive oil.
In its 15th season, the initiative is organized by Strada dell'Olio DOP Umbria and by the Comunità Montana Monti Martani Serano e Subasio, in collaboration with the Consorzio di Tutela dell'Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva DOP Umbria and with the "Oil Cities," Trevi, Assisi, Campello sul Clitunno, Castel Ritaldi, Giano dell'Umbria, Gualdo Cattaneo, Spello, Spoleto, Valtopina and Isola Polvese. 

The Extra-Virgin Olive Oil DOP Umbria of each location will be presented and offered for tastings; Umbrian olive oil is recognized worldwide for its low percentage of acidity, its rich count of polyphenols, its yellow-green color and its slightly-peppery aftertaste. These qualities make Umbrian oil a certified excellence of its terrain.  
Parallel events will also take place in every part of the region – not only enogastronomic itineraries, but musical and theatre performances are also in store, on a programme full of encounters in the piazzas and at the presses.
