25.02.2012 - 03.06.2012
At the Mart in Rovereto, from February 25th to June 3rd, 2012, "Alice in Wonderland" is on display, the first exhibition that analyses the influence that the famous stories by Lewis Carroll have had on the world of visual arts.
Edited by Christoph Benjamin Schulz and Gavin Delahunty, and with the assistance of Eleanor Clayton, the exhibition is organised by the Tate of Liverpool in collaboration with the Mart and the Hamburg Kunsthalle.
The classics by Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, 1832 – 1898), "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Mirror" have fascinated and inspired generations of artists since their publication, 150 years ago.
This exhibition explores the process of creating novels, the adoption of the texts as a source of inspiration in the art world, and the revision of some key aspects made by many artists 'till today.
