Six Chamber Music Events at Lake Como

From June 28th until July 20th, Lake Como welcomes the tenth edition of the “Music on the Water” Festival, an international festival of chamber music. There are six concerts every evening starting at 9:00 p.m., offering to the public and visitors to Colico, a town in the province of Lecco, the chance to get closer to the extraordinary world of music in the fairytale setting of the lake.

From Mendelssohn to Bach, Respighi, Schumann, Brahms, and Ravel, the calendar this year offers the most beautiful pages of chamber music performed by musicians of the highest artistic reputation inside buildings of indisputable historical and architectural value.
The heart of the festival is, in fact, the Cloister of the Abbey of Piona, a wonderful example of Romanesque structure, together with the Monastery of Santa Maria del Lavello, a symbol of the area since the Middle Ages, and Villa Monastero in Varenna, an historic home in addition to the exhibition space houses a vast and colorful botanical garden.

The event also presents workshops, educational events and meetings designed for youngsters, while fully respecting the cultural and historical value of Lake Como. Finally, on July 20th, the last night, an innovation introduced last year: the opportunity for the public to choose which songs to hear during the closing concert.
