29.11.2013 - 06.01.2014
The lights of the Bolzano Christmas Market (the biggest and best-known in the Region of Trentino Alto Adige) will glow bright from November 29, 2013 to January 6, 2014.
As in every year, children and families especially can enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of this Medieval borgo, characterized by romantic porticoes and palazzi. The city's heart is Piazza Walther, with its Gothic Duomo standing overhead, the legendary Hotel Città, and the numerous bars and restaurants that frame this charming, magical market.
Every year thousands of attendees rush to experience the unique ambience of the market's traditional wooden houses and inventive exhibitors, whose genuine products are made in the Alto Adige tradition.
Small orchestras sound Christmas music, while the stands sell imaginative Christmas tree decorations; artisan toys and objects in wood, glass and ceramics; clothes made of loden (the area's wool blend); and of course, delicious gastronomic specialties, from speck to strudel, mulled wine, and the native sweet, Zelten.
Also to be admired are the artisan market in Piazza Municipio, the Children's Christmas Market (Nov. 29 - Dec. 23), the Market of Solidarity, the Artisan Exposition, and the Enchanted Forest market. Then, each day is a surprising discovery of what lies behind another window of the enormous Advent Calendar, located inside the Max Valier building, in Via della Posta.
