17.12.2012 - 31.03.2013
The Italian Diagnostic Center in Milan is in the middle of hosting Prime Donne: Puccini‘s Women, an educational exhibit curated by Chiara Donato and realized in collaboration with the Bracco Foundation. It is set to run until March 31st, 2013.
Students of the Accademia La Scala also took part in the exhibit’s preparations and installment, contributing to the construction of the mannequins and costumes that represent four protagonists from Puccini’s operas: Floria Tosca, Manon Lescaut, Mimì and Musetta (La Bohème).
The figures have been embellished with face and arm molds created by students from the Special Effects class, while alumni produced the photography that documents all the behind-the-curtains activity.
Finally, the entire display is enhanced with designs by set designers in their last year at the Accademia; the students reinterpreted the various heroines' costumes in modern tones, adding to the four aforementioned prima donnas Princess Turandot, Minnie (The Girl of the West), Magda (The Swallow), Cio Cio San and Sister Angelica (Madame Butterfly).
This event is just one of many initiatives to result from a fruitful partnership between the Bracco Foundation and the Accademia La Scala.
