Spaccanapoli is a long straight street that divides the city running from west to east, following the route of the Greek-Roman decumano. In the narrow streets and the small squares that open to the side of the street pulses the life of the city and some of the most important monuments in Naples look onto it. In Piazza del Gesù stands the Guglia dell'Immacolata which, with its 34 metres, reminds the tourist of the floats that travelled the city in the eighteenth century during festivals. The church of Gesù Nuovo faces onto the square with its facade in ashlar. Further on the church of Santa Chiara with the Chiostro delle Clarisse and, in Piazza San Domenico, the church of San Domenico Maggiore.
