Lipari, white beaches

The white beaches are one of the most original coastlines in Lipari. The whiteness originates from the pumice sediments deposited in the sea over the centuries from the now abandoned quarries. The waste has formed slopes of fine white sand, which has compacted over time and looks directly out over a crystal sea. The long jetties were used for loading the pumice onto the ships.
