Valle d’Aosta’s Musicastelle, by now an annual destination for music lovers, will double its dates this year. From July 12-22, some of the most gorgeous localities of Valle D’Aosta will take part in the ten days of concerts put on by both nationally-acclaimed Italian, and world-famous, jazz artists. Two diverse series of concerts will comprise the festival - Musicastelle in Blue and Musicastelle Outdoors.
The former is in its third edition this year; organized by the community of Forte di Bard.(Aosta), the Region of Valle D’Aosta, and Blue Note Milano, it will include 6 concerts. Beginning on July 13, Wayne Shorter Quartet will go on stage, followed by Dee Dee Bridgewater on the 14th, and Pat Metheny Unity Band the 15th. After a three-day pause, the series will resume with Maceo Parker on July 19, Ludovico Einaudi and Paolo Fresu the 20th, and Esperanza Spalding the 21st.
Musicastelle Outdoors, in its first year, will change locations every evening, opening on July 12 with Malika Ayane in Morgex; Enrico Ruggeri in Châtillon; Dolcenera at Saint-Christophe; and concluding with Francesco Renga in Bionaz on July 22nd. At Musicastelle Outdoorthere are no seats or even a stage; seating is on the grass, sans barrier, without any barrier between audience and artist.
