The international exchange for tourism of UNESCO cities and sites is being held in Assisi from September 21st-23rd, in particular to host the first edition of “Mediterranean Cuisine Days.” The event was conceived as a way to familiarize the world with the nutrition and culture of the Mediterranean Diet. The diet itself is one of the listings (since 2010) on the UNESCO World Heritage List, for being an example par excellence of not only an invaluable food tradition, but a lifestyle.
The World Tourism Expo (WTE) is a highly-important event for cultural tourism, especially in a country like Italy, which claims the most UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The WTE is a crossroads between the worlds of culture and economics. It is an opportunity for international tour operators to get to know the 47 UNESCO Sites in Italy, and above all the innumerable touristic destinations that remain relatively undiscovered.
The promotion and enhancement of Italy’s immense historic, artistic and natural heritage are the key points on the Ministry of Tourism and Sport’s Strategic Plan to further improve the tourism sector in the Bel Paese. Italia.it will also be present at the event with its own stand.
