On April 17th, the Thun Castle, the Ton ancient manor, in the plains of the Non Valley, reopens its doors to the public after the long restoration and the recovery of all the discovered works of art.

The Thun Castle comes back to its ancient splendor. The imposing medieval manor, chest of centuries of art and history of the Non Valley plains, after years of care in the research and in the restoration, from the 17th of April will open to everyone. From this date, the Thun Castle will become one of the most important museums complex of the entire alpine arch, peripheral location of the famous Castle of the Buonconsiglio of Trento.
On the occasion of the inauguration, a prints and paintings exhibition of the XVI – XIX century, dedicated to the subject of landscape, will be set up. The Castle was built around the half of the XIII century as mansion of the powerful Thun family. Its position is strategic, from the castle which is located at the top of a hill, it is possible to enjoy a wonderful panoramic view on the valley and town of Vigo of Ton.
The manor is one of the most important example of castle architecture of Trentino: the civil-military structure is gothic and it is surrounded by a complex fortification system composed of towers, bastions, moats and wall-walks. All rooms are of great value, furnished with furniture, tapestries, stoves, boiserie, paintings, silverwares, arms, carriages and draperies of different style and periods.
It is also important to visit the big library of the Castle which preserves ancient precious books.
On April 17th the Thun Castle will inaugurate the new opening at 11 a.m..
The opening and closing time in the following days will be 9.30 a.m. – 17 p.m., while from June 26th to November 8th the opening to the public will be allowed from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m..
The ticket price is 5 Euros, over 65 and under 18 have free entrance, groups over 15 persons have a reduction to 3 Euros.
The Castle has a car park at about 500 meters from the entrance.
