Salone Internazionale del Mobile

08.04.2014 - 14.04.2014

Milan's 53rd International Furniture Exhibition

As it has every year since 1961, Milan once again confirms itself as the undisputed Capital of design
The Salone Internazionale del Mobile (International Furniture Salon) runs this year from April 9-14.
The Salone del Mobile is the global point of reference for anything and everything to do with the Home Furnishings sector, and is an extraordinary promotion vehicle for the entire industry.
The Salone was first conceived as a showcase for Italian furniture and décor exports, a catalyst for familiarizing and distributing the Peninsula’s high-quality products throughout the world.
Becoming an international event in 1967, the Salone del Mobile has long showed itself capable of maintaining its place as industry leader and trendsetter on a global level – and of reaching a status that perhaps no event in any other sector has been able to achieve.

Being held in the Fiera Milano di Rho, it displays to the world the most important and innovative concepts and ideas in interior design and objects.
Taking part are more than 2,400 exhibitors in various sectors, including the most prestigious indoor and outdoor furnishings firms, as well as makers of electrical appliances and upholstery and structural and siding materials.
This season adds to the mix the Salone Internazionale del Complemento d'Arredo (interior decor), l'Eurocucina, the Salone Internazionale del Bagno (Bath) and SaloneSatellite.
Also worth mentioning are the fair's Pavilion 9, with the exhibit Dove vivono gli architetti (Where the Architects Live), displaying the houses of famous Contemporary architects like Shigeru Ban, Mario Bellini, Zaha Hadid, Daniel Libeskind and David Chipperfield.
And the city really livens up during the dates of the event, with plenty of initiatives ranging from Fuorisalone (in zona Tortona) to the Design District of Brera and the quadrilatero della moda.
Not only, but the Comune di Milano has decided to open its museums and galleries free during the Fiera's run.
