Dreamlike painting and fairytale images: these are the leitmotif of the exhibition to be hosted at Palazzo Roverella in Rovigo from 4 April to 5 July, 2020. Chagall's romanticism and poetry explode in the subjects of his canvases, among flying donkeys, crazy musicians and boundless landscapes. This imaginative and visionary twentieth-century artist summed up the Russian cultural tradition of his time, depicting working class life and the influence of the artistic avant-garde movements alive at that time in the rest of Europe. Happiness and optimism, lively, bright colors burst forth in a style that recalls the childish naivety and the language of the fairy tales of Anche la mia Russia mi amerà [Even my Russia will love me].
