On the footprint of the Battle of Anghiari

On the footprint of the Battle of Anghiari

A special itinerary dedicated to the Battle of Anghiari, the most famous unfinished work of art by Leonardo, praised by his contemporaries and copied by a whole generation of artists. The painting was supposed to decorate a wall of the great hall of Palazzo Vecchio which at the time hosted the meetings of the Major Council of the Republic of Florence, now known as the Salone dei Cinquecento.  The path starts in the area of the Salone del Cinquecento where in the last few years research efforts were focused on finding any residual traces of the Leonardo's painting, under the frescoe of Vasari representing the Battle of Marciano.
