Milan - Great conductors Barenboim, Abbado, Boulez, Myung-Whun Chung, Dudamel and Gatti will bring prestige to the programme of the temple of opera.

A new Bizet’s Carmen conducted by Daniel Barenboim and produced by Emma Dante, will open this opera season, which features nineteen Opera and Ballet titles, nine new productions, including the beginning of a new Wagner’s Ring by Belgian producer Guy Cassier, and more than sixty orchestral, singing and chamber concerts.
A season of grand passion at the La Scala Theatre next year: this definition was given by Stephan Lissner as he presented the programme for 2009-2010, his fifth season as general manager and art director at the theatre of Milan.
In addition, Placido Domingo, the protagonist of a new Simon Boccanegra in April, will celebrate his fortieth birthday at La Scala on December 9th 2009 (he made his debut in 1969 with Verdi’s Ernani) singing as Siegmund in act one of Wagner's Die Walküre, a concert performance conducted by Daniel Barenboim, together with Nina Stemme (Sieglinde) and Kwangchul Young (Hunding). http://www.teatroallascala.org/
