The festival "Notte dei Poeti" (Night of Poets) will run in its thirtieth year this summer, and will take place in two parts: the first, from July 13-21 at the ancient city of Nora near Pula, with performances, workshops, and various cultural activities; and the second, which comprises the Nora Jazz Festival, August 1-4, with some great jazz groups performing in this Festival’s fourth year.
After being held the last four years in Cagliari, Night Poets makes its return to its original home, the Roman Theatre of Nora, traditional and innovative forms of poetry and theatre will mix under the theme "la follia" (foolishness, insanity).
The event opens its first night on July 13 with an original production, “Salammbo,” starring Caterina Murino. To follow on the 14th is a concert dedicated to the poet Alda Merini, “Canto degli Esclusi” featuring Alessio Boni and Marcello Prayer.
The 15th of July, Balletto dell’Esperia will perform il “Galà di danza,” while on the 19th, Rossy de Palma’s “Versos contraries” will take the stage, prior to “Memorie di un Folle” with Claudio Santamaria.
The festival will conclude on the 21st with Pinuccio Sciola and Moni Ovadia in “Poesia della pietre e della parola.” Santa Margherita di Pula will host other festival dates, particularly the July 16, 17 and 18, dedicated to “Stories and Cinema under the Stars of Nora.” Then the festival’s second part will kick off on August 1 with a series of jazz concerts lasting through the 4th. Also on the programme is “Night of Young Poets” July 13-19 in both Nora and Pula (at Casa Fra, Piazza del Popolo, Chiesa Sant’Efisio and at Nora Beach).
