Barolo (CN), July 13th-16th, 2012 - World-famous musicians, writers, and artists descend on the hills of Barolo

The Collisions Festival Poster
Important names from literature, music and culture will share the stage in the Barolese hills for “Collisions,” the most prestigious summer event in the Langhe.
The “Collisions” initiative is sponsored by the Region of Piedmont and the European Community, and takes place in the heart of one of the most suggestive landscapes in the area. For three days the countryside is transformed into a massive, non-stop stage, where every piazza and street is animated by cultural encounters, artistic installations, and musical and theatre performances.
“The Wind” is the unifying theme, one that anticipates the can’t-miss, much-awaited musical set of Bob Dylan on the 16h of July. This date will also be the singer/poet’s only Italian date in Europe.
The closing night of the festival will also be an extraordinary occasion, a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the song “Blowing in the Wind.”
The news on the rest of the guestlist is just as exciting, full of highly-acclaimed artists and performers: Don DeLillo, Luis Sepulveda, Boy George, Carlo Verdone, Pupi Avati, Moni Ovadia, Subsonica, Philippe Daverio, Luciana Littizzetto, Niccolò Ammaniti, Lella Costa, Richard Mason, Alessandro Mannarino, Claudio Coccoluto and Patti Smith. In fact, Smith will be opening her own national tour right in Barolo on July 14th, performing works from her new album “Banga.”
