Parma

Parma, a city of Emilia Romagna has roman origins and its major splendour was during the dukedom of Parma, Piacenza and Gustalla. In the city centre you can visit the Cathedral Dome (of the XI – XII century) that together with the Baptistery and the Palazzo Vescovile offers a beautiful Medieval sight.
Worth to be seen are the Monastery of S. Giovanni Evangelista a monumental complex made by the Church, the  Convent and the Chemist shop of S. Giovanno famous for its medicines. Important are also the neoclassical Teatro Regio, famous all over the world as it holds important opera event and the Church of Mandonna della Steccata, decorated by Parmigianino.
Parma is famous also for wine and food: among the typical products the culatello, ham of Parma, Parmiggiano Reggiano, the boiled hot shoulder, feline salami, the anolini with broth of beef or capon, tortelli all’erbette, bomaba di riso, stracotto, bolliti misti, the “buzèca” (tripe) and the cima ripiena.
