Castelfranco Veneto celebrates Giorgione

Up to the 11th April, Castelfranco Veneto holds an important exhibition dedicated to the big painter of the Reinassance, with works coming from the most important museums of the world.

After 500 years from his death this big exhibition celebrates one of the most important painters of the Italian Reinassance: Giorgio from Castelfranco Veneto, called Giorgione.
The exhibition is dedicated to him and it has been organised in his home city up to the 11th April 2010. the exposition includes works coming form the most important museums of the world: from the Uffizi in Florenz to the Louvre in Paris.
An original and unpublished excursus to see his masterpieces of the first period together with those of the big artists with which it worked, such as: Leonardo, Raffaello and Tiziano. He was 33 years old when he died in Venice between 1477 and 1510 due to the plague and he revolutionized he Italian painting. He was the protagonist while Venice and Italy were in the acme of their both politically and economic importance. The year of his death was the year when the Serenissima started to grow, as the year before it was defeated by the Papacy, the French reign, the Holy Roman Empire, the Naples reign and the Dukedom of Ferrara in Agnadello.

The exhibition is organised in the Museo Casa Giorgione and it is open all days until the 11th April 2010 form 9.00 am to 7.00 pm (closed from 2.00pm of the 31st December to 2.00pm of the 1st January 2010)

Castelfranco Veneto is 26 km far from Treviso.
The nearest airport is San Giuseppe of Treviso placed 28 km.
By car: from the motorway A27 exit Treviso and follow the indications for Castelfranco.
