The Carnival of Fano is renowned for its famous “Getto” or “throwing of sweets” from the allegorical floats, sometimes up to 18 metres high. A true “tempest of sweetness” (about 2 tons) of sweets, chocolates and other sweet treats are caught by the crowds that line the street.

The papier-maché giants allegoric figures represent famous people from the world of sport, culture and show business, represent themes inspired by current news and are built thanks to the painstaking work of the master-floaters.

The 2017 edition of the Carnival of Fano will be characterized by 3 themes: first week will be dedicated to the theatre genius of Dario Fo. The second week will be dedicated to sport and the final week will be dedicated to art and music.
