Capalbio (GR), August 1-12, 2012 - “The pleasure of reading” arrives in Capalbio

Capalbio Books - Piazza Magenta
Returning for its sixth season this year, Capalbio Books brings with it “the pleasure of reading”: always in the same place (the characteristic Piazza Magenta), but featuring new authors and musicians.
From August 1-12, twelve encounters will take place, with discussions and debates ranging from culture and literature to current events, politics and economics – one for every evening, to begin at 7 PM.
Capalbio Books 2012 will be a series of presentations for the books of Myrta Merlino, Gianluca Comin and Donato Speroni, Paola Concia, Pietro Grasso, Federico Grom and Guido Martinetti, Ilaria D’Amico, Alessandra Arachi, Mario Pirani, Marina Valensise, Sergio Garufi, Gennaro Sangiuliano, Giuseppe Di Piazza and Mirella Serri. Additionally, two special events are scheduled for August 1 (9:30 PM), with Matteo Renzi talking about his latest book, Stil Nuovo (Rizzoli), and responding to questions posed by L’Espresso journalist Denise Pardo; and for August 7, with the presentation of On the Road (24 Ore Cultura), a volume of narrative photography on Eni service stations.
By now the constant dialogue between music and the written word has become the centerpiece of Capalbio Books. In addition to writers, journalists, intellectuals and other important personages, the stage at Piazza Magenta will host a select group of musicians, chosen by the maestro Massimo Nunzi, musical director for Capalbio Books for the last five years.
Created and directed by Andrea Zagami, Capalbio Books maintains and reinforces a formula that has worked so well for it in the past: a format starring important voices of the moment, with preferred emceeing by Marta Mondelli, a young actress, director and writer whose work has been seen in theatre, television and cinema productions, both in Italy and the United States.
Capalbio Books is produced by Zigzag in collaboration with the Commune of Capalbio, and support from the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Region of Tuscany and the Province of Grosseto . The celebration is also part of the literary series La Toscana del Libro, an initiative put on by (and all over) the Region of Tuscany.
