Norcia celebrates the Roman emperor on the two thousandth anniversary of his birth. An event resulting from ten years of work and research.

La Castellina Museum entrance in Norcia
Starting on 18 December and going on for the whole 2010, Norcia hosts the exhibition “From Curius Dentatus to the Vespasii: Nursia and the ager nursinus from praefectura to municipium”.
Celebrations are closing in the city in Umbria, because it was the place where Vespasia Polla, the emperor’s mother came from. The exhibition covers nine rooms of the upper floor in Castellina Museum in Norcia and is funded by contributions from Umbria Regional Government, B.I.M. of Cascia and other institutions, but, above all, is the result of ten years of studies and research by Circuito Museale Nursino (Norcia Museum Association).
It retraces the stages of the romanization of this area and explains the significant wealth increase that followed the conquest of the region by Manius Curius Dentatus, which led to the rise of local families, such as the Vespasi.
