The trabocchi are old fishing equipment, wooden platforms suspended on poles and overlooking the sea, from which jut long arms supporting large nets. They make it possible to fish without going out to sea and are a distinctive feature of an extensive area of the southern Abruzzo coast, in the province of Chieti, known as 'Costa dei Trabocchi'. In the Fossacesia hinterland we find a pleasant hillside surrounded by olive groves, vineyards, orange and pomegranate orchards. It is famous for the splendid abbey.
