The Castello Svevo in Porto Recanati was built in the thirteenth century thanks to a donation by Frederick II, although the present aspect dates from the fifteenth century. The first settlement developed around the castle and only later grew into a harbour. On the first floor of the castle we can visit the Pinacoteca Comunale, the municipal art gallery.
