The Duomo of Siena, an incomplete masterpiece

This is a masterpiece of Italian Romanesque-Gothic architecture and, observing the elegant geometric design of the facade, we can easily understand why the Duomo, the cathedral, has always been the pride of the people of Siena. Walking beside the side wall to the belltower, we will discover the incomplete structure of the new cathedral, an ambitious project abandoned in 1357 which was to intended to transform the church into the transept of a much larger building that was to compete with the cathedral of Florence.
