Palazzo Carignano, Baroque Torino

In 1679 the architect Guarino Guarini began the construction of Palazzo Carignano, an elegant example of baroque style. This residence of the Savoy dynasty has a curving facade, entirely clad in brick and beautifully decorated terracotta tiles, in a delightful play of light and shade. This was the first seat of the Italian Parliament.
