Tempio della Concordia

We are standing before one of the best preserved Greek temples: the Tempio della Concordia. This building is one of the most perfect works of Doric architecture and has been preserved thanks to its transformation into a Christian basilica from the sixth century to 1748. The temple dates from around 430 BC and has tapering columns - which seem taller than they really are - with an entasis, a small bulge at about two thirds of their height. The frieze alternates triglyphs and metope without bas reliefs. Neither is the pediment decorated.
