Piazza del Plebiscito is one of the largest squares in Naples, the scene of the principle events in the city. It is surrounded by the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, which recalls the forms of the Roman pantheon, and by Palazzo Reale, the residence of the Bourbons. In the centre stand the equestrian statues of Charles and Ferdinand I of Naples. From here if we take Via Toledo we can see the Galleria Umberto I, the salon of the city with shops and cafes. Not far away is the Castel Nuovo or Maschio Angionino, one of the most famous monuments in Naples, with its five imposing towers and the Arch of Triumph.
