The three treasures of universal sacred art are concentrated in Piazza San Giovanni and in Piazza del Duomo: the Duomo, the belltower, the Baptistery. The great monumental complex is enlivened by the chiaroscuro of the green and white marbles. The belltower was designed by Giotto in the fourteenth century and is decorated with wonderful small columns and perforations. The Baptistery is one of the most ancient buildings in the city, mentioned also by Dante.
