Palmarola, Beyond Inhabited Lands

Palmarola, the third-largest island in the Pontine Archipelago (after Ponza and Ventotene), is a fascinating little corner of paradise that explodes in a whirlwind of perfumes and colors. According to the famous French explorer and oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Palmarola is the most beautiful island in the Mediterranean. This magnificent isle, set within the Natural Marine Area of the Islands of Ventotene and Santo Stefano, is an ideal destination for scuba-divers. Its seabeds are home to a great variety of fish and even to the remains of a warship sunk during the Second World War.
