A local craftsman refers that St. Michele left his footprint on Mount St. Angelo. For this reason, the mount is considered as a place of worship and deep spirituality. Here pilgrims can still atone for their sins by means of the plenary indulgence granted in the sanctuary of St. Michele the Archangel. In the Middle Ages, for those who departed from Mont Saint Michel in France, but especially for the Crusaders, the sanctuary of Mount St. Angelo represented a mandatory destination on the road to Jerusalem.
