Chianti valley

Placed between the provinces of Florence and Siena, the Chianti Valley has always been considered the heart of old Tuscany, well renowned all around the world for its famous wines.
A rich history and wine tradition from the XIIIth century have made this area an ideal place for those who wish to undertake original trips amid vineyards, hills and characteristic little villages.
Within each of these small towns you may run into cellars, castles or simple farmhouses, whose name is situated next to the renowned Gallo Nero brand, symbol of the Chianti of excellence.
The valley offers views of great charm:  vineyards covered hills, magnificent forests of chestnut trees, oaks and picturesque medieval villages rich of artistic testimonies like Greve in Chianti with its old triangular shaped square bounded by town houses, porches and arcades.
Another typical town is Radda In Chianti, that includes within the original town wall, the ancient village, its Podestà palace and old Castle, while in its neighbourhood it guards two wonderful  Romanesque Parish churches (Pieve).
It is also worth to visit Castellina in Chianti with its distinctive central square crossed by the medieval Via delle Volte and Gaiole in Chianti, encircled by castles of historic value like the one of Fonterutoli and the one of San Leonino.
Many more are the surprises in this wonderful valley, ruled by ancient traditions, gastronomic specialities and a deep love for its product of excellence: the Chianti wine, renowned and appreciated even out across the national borders.
