Genoa

Genoa and the sea: an unbreakable bond.
In ancient times the port was the "gateway" to the city's main crossroads of peoples and cultures.
The Lanterna, with its 76 meters high, is perhaps the most significant emblem of how the sea has been, and still is the dominant element of the history of Genoa and the Genoese. Today the Lanterna is a museum that, with less traditional forms, wants to convey the true spirit of being "Genoese".
The ancient port, which covers about 130,000 square meters. divided between areas covered and open areas, is the subject of a massive project of restructuring and modernization, to make it a real tourist attraction worldwide. The project was entrusted to Renzo Piano, architect of world fame, who in 2004 presented the vision, which he called "avant projet" of how it intends to transform this important landmark of the city.
Piano has already realised the famous Bubble for the city of Genoa, a structure of steel and glass in which has been recreated a true tropical environment.
In addition, one of the jewels of the city that every year attracts thousands of visitors: the Aquarium, where fun and entertainment are combined with the knowledge and environmental education, to offer a comprehensive program suitable for all ages .
In addition to the Aquarium and to the Hummingbirds Forest, you can admire the Biosphere, the Galata, the Maritime Museum and exciting on the panoramic lift that leads to 40 meters above the sea but also have fun in the city of Children. All facilities are accessible using a funny little train made available by the Aquarium.
