The Cinque Terre

The Cinque Terre is the name of a district that encompasses five wonderful towns, where small houses are surrounded by a lush nature.
Any tourist who visits this district is fascinated by the beauty of these five small villages, namely: Manarola, Riomaggiore, Corniglia, Vernazza e Monterosso al Mare.
Tourists will be enchanted by the uncontaminated sea as well as by the mainland. The inhabitants of Cinque Terre got benefit from its natural environment where the wild nature, interspersed with vineyards, olive groves and citrus orchards, testifies that the man was able to tie his life and traditions in this stretch of coast. Monterosso is in an ancient village located on the top of a hill that tourist can climb up and enjoy an amazing panorama.
The main tourist attractions are the Old Castle, the Church of Saint John the Baptist and the Convent of the Capuchin.
The modern town stands at the foot of the hill called Fenigia area and it has gracious beaches and natural areas. Finally, the statue of Neptune, called the Giant, majestically stands close to one of these beaches and it is a monument that tourists cannot miss.
Riomaggiore is the most  famous town in the Cinque Terre district as well as the closest town, coming from La Spezia.
From here begins a fascinating promenade, dug into the rock in the early 20th century, leading to Manarola where we have the famous "Way of Love". Another route not to be missed is the Sentiero Azzurro, which crosses the National Park of le Cinque Terre. Vernazza has a picturesque small port as an evidence of its old maritime traditions and its old town has defensive structures, elegant architectures, decorated portals and elaborated porches inserted between the narrow lanes that converge into the main square,  that is adjacent to the small port.
The Parish House of Saint Mary of Antioch, the Doria's Castle and the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Reggio are the main tourist attractions of Vernazza.
Manarola is positioned on the top of a cliff that “falls” into the sea and is a good example of the way that human being turned an unfavorable environment into a generous soil, by creating terraces into a steep slope and planting vineyards and orchards.
Tourists can enjoy wonderful scenarios standing on the top of the Punta Bonfiglio headland or in  the churchyard of Sanctuary of Nostra Signora della Salute di Volastra'.
Corniglia is located on the top of a headland covered in vineyards and the inhabitants of this small town produce excellent wines such as the Cinque Terre DOC, the Pollenza as well as the very well known Sciacchetrà. The so called Givano beach stands at the foot of this headland and it is the nudists' favorite destination.
