The town is located on a peninsula at the Tagliamento River's mouth, between the open sea and the lagoon of Marano, and includes more than eight miles of golden sandy beach, characteristic for its fine sand.
In addition to its environmental characteristics and the beautiful landscapes, Lignano is also a popular destination for its several sporting facilities, the presence of thematic parks and its famous sea thermal baths, where it is possible to undergo regeneration treatments based on the use of sand and sea water.
